"America's Finest News Source"

Editorial manager

Throughout college I read The Onion every Tuesday night when the new weekly issue was released online. I was a comedy nerd growing up, and wrote a few (in retrospect terrible) comedy articles and a Onion-rip-off parody of my college newspaper.

I moved to New York City to chase the dream of working there, and was lucky enough to land an unpaid internship at the right time in the company's history. Over the next 4 years I worked my way up to managing the 15-member editorial staff and the weekly creative production process for the newspaper, website, and special projects.

As Editorial Manager for "America's Finest News Source" I served as editorial liaison and brand manager to other departments, ensuring that all company initiatives stayed within the Onion's unique voice and "on brand." This was during an exciting time of tremendous growth for the satirical news empire, as we expanded into new markets and new mediums, and grew the monthly readership 10-fold.

I also got to be the 4th Manning brother, was given away by Oprah, refused to stop partying, was freed from oppression by Bob Marley, and had a one-sided friendship with a homeless man.

After 4 Webby Awards, 2 best-selling books, 0 Pulitzer Prizes, countless headlines, and meeting my now-wife, I moved on to other projects.
